I know this was asked before but I was unable to locate it again.
I just bought a Never been used Magna Jig Saw I have a few questions---
1. The big one, how do I make the transition from it's 1/2" to 5/8" on my 510?
I don't have a manual and it is new/old so I hate to start tearing into it if there is another way.
2. It had no oil in it of course so I put in Mobile 1 synthetic 5/20 as I don't think they even make 10 weight oil any more. Any opinions?
Which leads to the next question. How do you fill it? I just laid it on its side and poured it in till it was full. Right ?Wrong?

Shopsmith sells the adapter for the shaft. It's the same as the jointer if I remember right.

The oil should be fine. The worst thing is to run it without any oil at all. You can also use compressor oil. Just not 3 in one. You remove the screw when it's in the upright position. Use a small funnel and fill until the oil is at the same level as the hole. It would run out slightly. Take out the excess oil you put in.

You need a 1/2" hub(most other spt's are 5/8".

Magna jig saw question
Hey guys thanks a bunch!!!! I ordered the part (and a set of Forstner Bits just to make it worth their trouble) and I think he problem is solved. Where would we be without these Forums
Enjoy. The jigsaw is very well made. It also accepts small files. These are available on ebay from time to time. Try and get a set.
You can also customize files from the hardware store if you need to. All you need is a shank the jaws of the jigsaw can grab and you can do some very fine work in wood or metal.
