How do I get it HOME?

My Dodge 1500 has a 6' 4" bed with 19" vertical clearance with the toneau cover in place. Several times I have taken the legs off a Shopsmith. (ten 1/4" fasteners with nuts and toothed washers) It then fits in the bed of the truck, nice and dry in any weather.

The Shopsmith is easy to break down. I used to buy used ones and break em down and haul em in my little Honda Civic. I brought home two one weekend and a Shopsmith 3300 dust collector. Don't forget your 5/32" Allen wrench.

A DC pretty much filled up the right front seat and most of the right rear in a 86 Accord. Felt like R2D2 was riding shotgun(but partially reclined!).

Thank you so much for ALL of the advice you so generously offered. The four hour trip to receive the 510 went off without a glitch. I'm getting ready to move, so it will be a few days before I have time to devote to my new treasure!

Do you think it's ok to place the shopsmith on saw horses, resting on the lower tubes, while you remove the legs?

I wrapped mine in soft blankets and laid it down in my trailer bed. A few hold-down straps kept it from sliding around.
