Bandsaw Fence Handle Problem

BTW that handle part number (516569) does not cross at Shopsmith.com so I don't know where the $61 came from.

I don't have a manual for the old style single front lock fence. But here is the correct part number for the current version. Now with shipping it would be closer to $16 not $60.

WELL @ 11:02 this AM it did exist with a $59.77 price.

I have to assume 'Big Brother' was listening and has taken 'corrective' action.

Apparently Dave was correct that only one version currently is 'available'.

Wellllll.... I went to the garage and found a long carriage bolt with the same thread. I was able to cut off the head and screw it into the remaining part of the handle. I'm not sure if it will hold, but so-far so good. Total cost= 1 bolt and a few drops of glue.

Now I just need to figure out what to do with the 2 other handles I bought from Shopsmith.

If big brother is watching, I'm normally pretty easy to get along with. However, Dave wasn't helpful, seemed uniformed, ucaring, and borderline rude. I just needed a little help and advise and he climbed on me for not looking it up in the manual. He is a key member of the Shopsmith Sales Prevention Team. IMHO He really needs a major retuning or to seek more suitable employment. This is exactly opposite of everyone else I've ever delt with at Shopsmith. If management wants more details, feel free to PM me & I'll give you a call.

Maybe I could stamp that part number on the 2 that I have and sell them on e-bay under Dave's name.

In the past if Shopsmith provided the incorrect part, they would issue a credit. In some cases, the incorrect part would be returned at their expense or they would say just keep it. If you have not already, I would contact them and arrange a return/refund.

If you are lucky, you will get Linda or Jan. If it's Dave, I'd hang up and try again.

Do not overlook the ability to cut additional thread length(the same as on the original).
