Large, whole pieces of sandpaper are easy to identify. How do identify what grit it is when there is no grit number on the back?
The reason I ask is that I purchased an assortment of sanding pads for my Multimaster and some of the pads have no number. They also were unsorted.

Separate the grains from the paper and measure the size in microns.
But seriously, compare the sheets by look and feel with a known grit. It may not be precise, but you will get close enough.
