Maintenance/Tune-Up
I live in Smyrna,GA and have a Shopsmith Mark V. I haven't used it in a few months because of work, etc. I am ready to begin using it again but I need some help to be sure all is in good working order. I wonder if there is a Shopsmith owner in the Atlanta area who would be willing to check out my Shopsmith, make sure it is in good working order, etc.? I would be happy to pay someone for this work.
cjf1944, I just went through the same thing, except mine had set for about 5 years, due to health problems. All I had to do is wipe it down, put on a coat of wax, oil the sheaves.. It was ready to go!! So yours just sitting a few months shouldn't need any more than mine did... Save your money for the cost of your next project!!!
Having too much fun in Alabama!!!

I too am just now getting back to using my Shopsmith after having been laid up for nearly 3 years due to surgery and complications. I live in a climate a bit different than Georgia but the hazards of neglect to you machine are about the same. The recovery process is definitely the same!
Get out you operators manual and study the maintenance section. Clean your machine well and perform a complete lubrication and check all alignments.

When you are done, you'll be ready to make sawdust. Go have fun! Be thankful you are using a Shopsmith; it will serve you long and well.
