Notice the casters ... ?

For many years now, I've been using $1 bottles of ammonia from one of those Dollar Tree stores. Pour it into a plastic bucket or tub and drop the blade in and leave it overnight. Very little scrubbing the next day. Usually the brazing on the carbide tips will need some touch up. One drawback is that most if not all the lettering is removed along with the pitch. Then put the ammonia back into the bottle for the next time. I do this twice yearly to all the blades I use. Caustic, yes, but not enough to damage any part of the blade. Wish I could get the same results with soap and water.

I tried the coffee thing, It worked great! Just put the blades in a cookie sheet, pour the coffee in to cover them, wait a while (mine sat overnight cause I forgot about it) for the acids in the coffee to do the work and gently scrub with a brass brush to knock off the tough stuff.
