What makes the Jointer In-Feed table move?

One of your photos looks like the ears were lopped off at some point. You should be able to rig up a pair of ears. As I understand it the infeed and out feed tables or finished as a pair and you cannot replace one or the other without having them machined to mate. The ears are there primarily to hold the adjusting handle rod in a fixed place. The grooved space on the rod. That way, when you turn the knob the table moves.
If my quick fix repair did not work, my "plan D" was to grind the area where the ears belong flat and then have a t shaped piece of 1/2 inch thick steel with a U shape cut for the rod to fit in and then bolt it down.
Sorry for not having the proper names or some sort of drawing to explain this. But if you look at my photos on the other thread it may give you an idea
