I don't know. I have never had to replace one. I do wonder what holds it in place. Hopefully, if you buy one, you'll get installation instruction.

The Control Sheave bearing was a press fit and staked (notched) around 4 times to hold it in place. I have never seen any instructions on installing this bearing. I use red LocTite (careful not to get any LocTite on the bearing shield) inside the Control Sheave and use a special dull/flatten tip chisel to stake the bearing 6-8 times. There is a small failure rate when installing the new bearing. Lately, I found I had clearance to machine the Control Sheave bearing depth any additional .060"-.075" deeper to leave more room to stake the bearing. Notice the stake/notch on the Control Sheave at the roll pin location. [ATTACH]17207[/ATTACH]
I buy my buttons from Ebay seller bandsaw-tire-warehouse. I use a center punch to spread the button shaft to hold the bearing

What does the rectangular hook with spring attach to?

It goes over the spring on the speed control porkchop. You can see the part clearly in your post #8.

i just received my bearing and installed it very quickly with everyone's help from here. My Shopsmith is now fully operational and runs like a friggin top! I've never been so damn happy about a tool. Thanks again to everyone here, couldn't have done it without you.
