What some people don't understand is IRON sharpens IRON!
In times past we have discussed things ( I guess some could call it bickering), but almost every time I have learned something, either about woodworking or how to better state things so my comments aren't mis-understood.
I consider you a good Shopsmith forum friend and a great sharpening tool.
So while others may complain I say thank you good friend!

Dusty,
In reading your posts, i have never had the impression you were jabbing anyone.
Someone can always take your post differently than intended depending on what thier emotional state is at the time, especially when there is no other reference than the typed word (i.e. voice inflection, body language, etc)
Don't sweat it!
NOT HERE, Please!

There have been some sessions where I participated in less than friendly conversation and for that reason I have accepted this criticism ungrudgingly.
I do this because first I know my own propensity to argue and secondly because I have great respect for this forum. I joined the forum at a time of great personal need and the forum was, in part, my avenue out of some dark days. I do not want to knowingly do anything that detracts from this forum.
I thank everyone for their comments and for what I consider support.
I would ask that whenever you (all forum members) have a grievance with a forum member that you first direct your emotions to the source via PM. If you then still feel a need to react further, by all means do so - especially if your frustration is directed at me.

Dusty, I have enjoyed your posts, and your replies have helped me more than a few times. It is a pleasure to consider you one of my "Shopsmith Friends."
Have a great day, and know that your company is appreciated.
Sincerely,
Gary Kalyn

I'd like to know WHERE this happened. As far as I am concerned, Dusty is one of the better members here.

DUSTY! I assume you comprehend espaƱol.
DE NADA!
Literal translation 'of nothing' meaning it is nothing {also a form of RESPONDING TO thank you].
Anyone who is so 'sensitive' to any posts of yours needs to place a few of us more 'outspoken' members on their ignore list!!!
Doing so is their loss!
Sometimes it is a difference in word meaning that sets things off.
Participating in the discussion does lead to common understanding(and mind expansion!). No not big headed!!
Being super 'polite' and non-challenging is fodder for mis-communication. Lord knows there is way too much cornfusion already.

I went back and tried to find this "bickering". Can't find it. Now I did this this morning, then went to my other, regular, frum to find out about some welding. Like I said before...this is a tame forum by comparison.

I am not sure what they consider "bickering". I have read a great deal of your posts and I cannot recall any of which appeared to be a quarrel. Some minor misunderstandings, a difference of opinion, yes. We all have some differences of opinions on many topics. Discussing these differences may appear to be bickering to some folks but if we did not have some differences every now and again..... how boring would life be then?
There are those that think that their way is the ONLY way and fail to realize that any task can be completed in many, many ways. What works for one may not work for another.
I would say, " If you have something to say,say it." I enjoy your insights Dusty.

Well said, 2bits!!! Yes, I am one who always enjoys my old friend Dusty's posts!:) Also, I often have differing views of those he expresses. Yes, such differences are what makes our Forum so interesting. When all is said and done, Dusty is one of the very best supporters of full discussions on most all the threads here. And - - what do ya know - - he has opinins!:D
Keep on keepin' on, Dusty!!
