Not sure where you are located, but someone locally (Minneapolis/St. Paul) has a 220v motor for $100 on Craigslist.

Did you find a 220 VAC Shopsmith motor? The 50 Hz current will operate the 60 Cycle motor somewhat slower but wih no real maintenance problems.

I have converted several motors to 220 VAC fior the overseas Shopsmith Mark V market. I have several motors already converted that can be reversed to allow different SPTs to 0perate on either end of the shopsmith stock.
