As an FYI, the way tubes are not bottomed out in the new double tilt base set up. Instructions that come with the upgrade guide you to 'center' the tubes between the two arms.

No apology needed, Jim. I knew that I was not going to get a perfect cut. As a matter of principle, I do not borrow tools (I also do not loan tools). Others offered me the use of tools that probably would have done a much better job than did the HF pipe cutter.
Anyhow, with just a little bit of filing, I got some near perfect ends that seat quit well.

It is done and all I have to do now is rearrange the shop so that I can have access to the drill press.

Probably a dumb question, but do you have the jointer's eccentric legs turned so that the jointer is further away from the headstock then if they were rotated 180 degrees?

I don't know how the eccentrics are positioned. I'll have to look. I really never gave any consideration to how far left or right they positioned the spt except to align the drive shafts.
Now, let me return the question. How does it matter? Am I overlooking something?
PS: Never mind. I now understand the question and the impact of the answer. I went to the shop to see and if the eccentrics were turned 180° from their current location it would move the jointer about 3/8" closer to the tie bar (whatever the eccentric offset is).
