Here is a post that might shed some light on "options" for modifications that can be done on the bandsaw. In this case it is the cast iron top version that was featured.

For some of you this might be something new to look at.

And I mixed up the numbers and made it a few months older than it was.

Terry, If you go for the updated cover, I would be very interested in purchasing the old cover, my early greenie is lacking one. I would love to get it in service.

I'm most likely going to do the window mod myself and purchase the dust chute mod. I may even do the dust chute DIY.

I can do a lot with $60 + whatever the shipping would be.

Vs the Cover upgrade
besides price
I upgraded my bandsaw to the new cover and, frankly, if I did it again I would probably use the dust chute upgrade and make my own window for the tension adjustment. The SS dust chute upgrade is quite reasonably priced although you can shave off a couple of bucks by buying the pieces from Rockler (or similar). Even with the SS cover, you will probably wind up cutting the plastic cross bracing out (it just catches the dust and 'jams' up - see prior postings).

As for the window, I find it difficult to see the tension scale through the plastic window - poor lighting, old eyes and (usually) dust on the window. I think a simple flap (secured with a screw on one end so it swings down) and a magnet would work great.

So better dust collection? Yes, any way you can. A window for the tension adjustment - very neat but I would probably cut my own.

Other items: I added the bigger table which is nice but the original table is magnetic and that makes the idea of a magnetic fence interesting. A nice fence with a drift adjustment would be very nice but, for now, I make due with a home made affair.

I think I'm going to do everything DIY on the bandsaw cover.

Based on the price of the aluminum table, that will go near the bottom of the wish list (Dream list?). Nice to have after I have everything else that is nice to have which is after want which is after really want which is after need.

My "Need" list is actually quite short.
Really want is a bit longer,
My Want/Wish list gets longer with every ad and review I read.
Dream/When I win the lottery list is shorter.
and includes such things as:
SS Power Pro
Robust Lathe (Finally decided on this versus the powermatic)
an entirely new shop area
SS Bandsaw table upgrade
Just before 18" Laguna Bandsaw.

Like I said, Dream List!!
