Since I run Linux on everything I use "Mirage". Very simple and for here I usually just set the width to 800 and check the box that says "Maintain aspect ratio".

I use Photo Shop Pro 9, but Culprit's info works without having to buy software if you don't have a need for it.

Depending upon yer camera aspect ratio(height - width) or cropping, the 800 may produce a height greater than 600. If so set height to 600 and 'maintain'.

irfanview is my weapon of choice. I usually also auto correct color as well before saving. It also can attach the paint tool box and that allows adding 'stuff'.
