A couple of years back my brothers rockwell table saw (vintage late '60-early '70) (same vintage as the one I sold when I got my shopsmith) died. He took the motor to a repair place where the option was $480 or not. He took the or not option and picked up an $80ish table saw from ace. I think that was three years ago and the thing is still running after about 3000 bird houses.
In his case rewinding was an option but not the solution.
