Stock rotation or lack thereof was definitely NOT the cause here. It turns out that this bottle of Titebond III is just now six months old, manufactured in February 2012.

It could really be a CYA move, Gene but isn't that what all CUSTOMER SERVICE actions are? They don't do what they do because they luv ya.

Even here in Kansas in the winter it will not get cold enough in the shop to freeze glue.

The glue comes from Columbus, Ohio so if it's shipped during the winter out of the factory there would seem to be a good possibility that the stuff gets frozen while sitting in the back of a truck somewhere. Maybe the best bet is to buy your supply of glue would be around now before the cold weather sets in in Columbus.

I have had titebond glue freeze in my shop. It does get thick when that happens, but it seems to work ok if I add some water. It never seems to get totally hard, just very thick. It takes some time to get it smooth again. I do not use it any where that is critical or on nicer projects. I used some on a laminate for a small bench for my wife's rabbits and it is fine after 3 years. Like others, I have taken to buying small bottles and using them. I am now working on a bench that will require a lot of glue and there, I will go with a big bottle. I also get the glue from my local Ace hardware and they don't keep stuff around long. I never thought about it freezing during shipment however. After one time of the freeze thaw cycle, I have just thrown it away. I keep forgetting to bring it into the house in the winter. I have wondered if the heat effects it. Dusty would have higher temps than I, just a thought.
