Living in a damp climate like yours apparently has challenges that I never think about. I have a 1982 Shopsmith that my Dad bought new, and handed to me in 1988. I've used it for 25 years and never have had any rust issues. Mine never gets coated with any oil or wax because it just isn't needed. I had it in my unheated garage until 2003 when I moved it into my basement workshop. I don't have any rust issues in either location.
