I have a tin of Trewax I bought decades ago. (from Shopsmith if I recall correctly). I use it once a year or so and have not had any problems in 25 years.

My decades old can doesn't look like what is available today, but hopefully what is in the can still works the same.

One thing in particular virtually springs to mind. Watching the Sawdust Sessions one can easily and confidently conclude that Nick did not get the memo as regards using wax sparingly. It is still undetermined as to whether he supports the idea of buffing out that which he sowed.

Imho a light, buffed coating of Boeshield followed by a waxing once a day for about two weeks (a month here in Hawaii) and a periodic renewal every couply months does a pretty good job. Much less is almost useless.

[a good waxing: spread it on a la Nick; then, right away, with a new cloth wipe well- easy but long- which gets any excess wax off and speeds the drying process; new cloth buff, easy but fast, as long as you want {stress easy}.
Notes: wax build-up? Only if you do Step 1 only. What about in the corners and cracks? Who cares.]
