The chuck is mammoth and has an equally mammoth price tag; but the description for the chuck got my attention because it mentions: "These new chucks were being manufactured especially for us as our recent catalog was being printed."

Wonder if this is just a holiday/specials catalog or a full catalog.

When I read the subject I was about to get upset because my new drill chuck arrived today. But after seeing the price I am happy with my purchase.

Is it really that big a deal to use the good ol' chuck key that someone would drop $130 for this? I understand keyless chucks on cordless drills where you might make frequent bit changes while on a ladder etc., but I can't really see why a drill press would need one.

There is no Shopsmith keyless chuck in my future; especially not at $130.

The jacobs chuck in the middle is what I consider to be 'mammoth'!:D

I don't think I will be ordering one any too soon. That won't fit in my budget.

Yep, I too like a paper cataloge. At 81 I do find small print a pain so a goodly sized print is looked for .This recent mailing is the second small one as I recall and am hopefull SS is doing better by now.

My 510 was purchased in 1989 and has served me well. if I bought the new power pro I,d have to live to 104, so I,ll stick with my 510.
