OK, this just defined the Mk7/MkVII debate.
Personally, I'd rather have the Mk7, from the '60's.
(If the parts will play nice with my ERs.)
One of my ERs has a variable speed (Skip's)
DC motor conversion.

JPG, I (almost) consider the MkV and the Mk5 similar machines.
Is there any real difference?

One was made by Magna Engineering, then Yuba Power Products, then Magna America from the early '50s through the late '60s.
The other was made by Shopsmith, Inc. starting in the early '70s.

I wish they would add the crank and the carriage to headstock lock in the current models. With a chance to upgrade of course

For future use I will make sure I use Mark VII for 60's style and Mark 7 for current
