He has a 10ER fence "fix" on his site too, but I'm pretty sure that one rpd linked to is a Mark 5/V model 500 fence.

Thanks for all the excellent information, guys! Yes, I fully intend to do ALL the maintenance to the SS. I did look into the upgrade to my old style fence. I am considering it. First I am going to try the things you guys mentioned. All the alignments, etc.

I was out in the shop today and checked my rip fence, it came with my 1976 machine from the factory, I'd guess this is pretty much what the early Shopsmith product looked like, and it doesn't have the issues addressed by Skip.
