If the loose set screw has boogered the shaft, ya might consider cleaning that up with a file

I could do it be trial and error I guess but I figure there must be some way to know what the relationship is between the where the set screw is susposed to be and where the large ring telling me what speed is approprate on the large ring.
Does anyone know the placement of the big ring, Letters or operations, where the when the set screw is at 4 o'clock or at 1 o'clock?
If I don't get thenm in the correct position the large ring will be out of sink with the rpm of the motor.

It sounds like you were out of sync before. The screw belongs in the divot, so download that "#13. How To Do A High Speed Adjustment" from RPD's post and doit to it.

I read #13. Will this work to fix having the speed control from turning almost 1/8 of a turn past the fast setting when runnin at maximum speed?

The high speed adjustment includes setting the ring to 'fast'. At least it
should as a next to last step. Last step = reattach dial.

Finally had the time to smooth out the shaft that the speed control fits on with the set screw. After doing that I opened, drilled the speed control lever hole where you have to get at the set screw and made it just a little bit bigger. Then I took my Dremel and made the hole look more like it was in the shape of a V with the bottome of the V rounded. That way I could get a little better access to the set screw.
I set the outer ring to fast, after I had the machine running at the fastest speed, and I put the control lever on and tightened it down good. Then I gave it a try. No slippage and it runs just fine from hight to low. I ran it up and down a number of times to make sure there wasn't any slippage and it is holding fine.
So thank you all for the help. My Greenie is running great again. I am now thinking of painting it. I did do the 520 upgrade so I have the larger table, and nicer fence so I think it would look good now if I painted it up to look like new.
Again, thank you all for the help. I am so pleased to have it running again. I oiled it all up, did the maintance that was necessary and it purrs like it did years ago.
