I guess so, although that must be from a different version of the book than I have, as the photos etc. are all different. My version came with my 500 when new in '78 - I only glanced at it briefly this morning but it seemed to have more photos specific to the shaper fence itself. Anyway, I"m guessing the book chapter won't answer all the questions but just a suggestion of a good place to start. I literally haven't used the shaper fence since the early 80's at best, so I have no recollection of how it was even installed or used...so that's where I'd start. All I remember is the thing was pretty scary when it was running...those safety upgrades are something I'll definitely look into whenever I get around to using it again.

As Robb pointed out, the M5/V 500 shaper fence clamps at the front and rear of the main table. Later models are attached using permanent mounting holes in the table.

The PTWFE versions did differ as those mounting changes were introduced.

The older version can be mounted at varying distances from the quill. This reduced the need to have both (in/out feed) fences 'micro-adjustable'. The older outfeed fence is adjustable, but it is a coarse loosen/slide/tighten procedure.

Page 115 of the 1989 version has an interesting 'drawing'. Fig 9-26 in the online version!

The link is to the online version of a book that has been released several times. Each version is a bit different than the others but to my belief they all cover the same information.

The later ones have additional SPT's covered.

The earlier ones were relevant to the earlier models(10E/ER, M5, MV 500).
