V120 for the Shopsmith

When I went to a Mike Young demo he had the new wheels on the machine as well as using the V120.

Part of his demo was to put the old shopsmith miter gauge and tip it side to side to show how much better the V120 was. Of course the old miter gauge was really tippy.... like it would be if it were not for the fact that you can adjust it.... And yes he was selling the V120. I was a little disappointed at that salesmanship.... I wonder if any one walked away being glad they didn't waste their money on a machine with such a bad miter gauge??

OK now I'm on to other things.

Mike is truly a Marketeer. I suspect that in his previous life he sold Edsels and was successful.

If I bought a Mark 7 as a result of viewing that demonstration, I would be expecting a V120. To deliver something else could be considered false advertising.

Yes and I am sure that what they deliver is the Shopsmith miter gauge but I believe it would be a strategic error for them to demo using the Incra and then deliver to a viewer of that a demo a Shopsmith miter gauge.

Even demoing the V120 with the adapter plate and then delivering without the adapter could be considered misrepresentation. It all depends upon expectations established as a result of the demo.

I just think that Shopsmith would do well to clean up the sales pitch; making certain that they are willing to deliver consistent with whatever is said there.

Yes, the new wheels were installed on the demo Mark 7 and Mike made a "big deal" of how easily it could be moved around. Do the new wheels come with that Mark 7?

I just looked through the documentation that was handed out at the demo and there is nothing contained therein that clarifies what we are discussing here now.

adapter block is holed and slotted and sized and whatever else you can think of so as to be compatible and flexible. It can attach to the Incra face, it can attach to the SS face, it can have auxiliary fences attached to it, it can attach to other Incra fences, etc.
For all o dat it needs holes and slots, some to fit the SS fixtures, some not.

Some things are hard to envision. I got cross-eyed looking at the parts when I first got 'em. Onct I tried to put 'em together (hands-on so to speak) so they'd do something it all went together almost automatically.
I can put on the SS aux miter gauge fence, or the Incra fence, or an aux fence I haven't made yet...
Note the Incra fence not same height as the SS aux (pre-drilled). Probably more things like that, don't recall off hand.

If you would check out the "adapter plate" under the V120 link in the Sawing section of the Shopsmith catalog, you will see that this item allows you to "adapt" any old jigs and/or fixtures you have made to fit your Shopsmith Miter Gauge...to the Incra V-120 Gauge.

I bought one of these and it's allowed me to use a bunch of oilder shop-made jigs and fixtutres with my INCRA V-120 gauge without having to modify the Gauge itself. Saved me a lot of time...and I think it's well worth the $17.

Howcum two sets of slots?

I haven't seen anything telling me what they were intended for, but I've found them handy for a clamp arm.
And in a couply odd setups I've used them to hold the aux fence in other than standard position- i.e. loosen both gnarlyed nuts, pick up, slide over to nest slot, put down and tighten. A-fence was then held by one screw. I don't remember what it was that I was doing, but it somehow worked very nicely.
--remember, remember... it had something to do with the Miter Express and trying to cut a 45d bevel. A project that was later aborted. Dec 22. Thumb almost completely healed now...
