Going to pick up my Mark V (510)

If you break the Shopsmith down, it should be very easy by yourself to carry it anyplace. In my little Honda Civic, I had a DC-3300, a Mark V510, and one or two 10E/ERs. They don't take up much space. The Mark V tubes are half as thick at the 10E/ER tubes. The headstock remains the heaviest. Now one really heavy item is the Pro Planer. Everything else is easily handled.

Good luck and check it out as you're taking it apart note the way tubes from the bench. The bench tubes, I believe are slightly longer. You can easily tell by the marks on the tubes. Having it all apart will make it easier to do any upgrades- casters, double tilt if you have a 510/520, PowerPro, riving knife, shaft protector, etc. If you go the Power Pro route, remember, there is another member on the forum in need of the a 1 1/8 HP motor. The Powerpro upgrade will permit you to totally rebuild the headstock as the quill, speed control, sheeve system & old motor are replaced. Performance is phenomenal! But you might put off the Powerpro and upgrade from a 510 to a 520 which is relatively simple.

There are many things you can do. I hope the tubes are rust free. They're easy enough to clean.
