I seem to remember making a 36" or maybe longer metal miter bar for several different projects I was doing on the 510 many years ago. I machined a recess for a slot washer toward each end and in the middle and tapped each recess for the screw. This was so the miter bar would not come off the table at each end of the slide with whatever I had attached to the miter bar and fall on the floor. I had a miter gauge with a 24" bar and the slot washer toward each end that I was using prior to this idea.
