The sequence of attachment during assembly may be the issue.

I secured the aluminum block to the fence and then screwed the post into the top of that block and then the last thing I did was install the machine screw thru the handle and through the large hole in the small aluminum block. The small aluminum block is not securely attached. It is quite loose.

I pulled mine part way apart and then reassembled. The object was to verify that the aluminum block on the fence is tight. It is secure though it is not rock solid.

To accomplish this, I had to disconnect the handle from the small aluminum block as well. That screw was the last part reconnected.

Yes. That is what the instructions say and I followed them. That is when I discovered the screw in the base of the safety grip handle did not fit

Ok. Then the fit of the aluminum block is normal. Either my Safety Grip and original miter gauge has an abnormal distance between the post and the screw for the heel of the safety grip or one of the aluminum blocks was improperly dimensioned/drilled.

I am curios. Has any other member recently (Feb 2013) bought a v120 from Shopsmith?? If so, did the old Safety Grip install properly? Trying to figure out if I got an abnormal v120 or an abnormal Safety Grip.

The 'block' attached to the rear of the miter gauge 'face' appears to be cocked(gap at the top greater than the washer thickness). May be camera/light angle, but it looks cocked(the inset on the block is about twice the washer thickness and appears to be even with the 'face' back edge).

When the block is attached to the 'face' properly, how do the grip holes mis-align? I am guessing the grip hole is above and/or forward of the rear block hole.

How much 'wiggle' is there in the grip as the grip handle is pivoted about the top of the threaded post at the 'hole' location. I see almost a 3/8" arc on my goldie miter gauge handle.

I think (assuming the incra parts are correct) that the cause is inside the grip casting where the 'post' sets.

Pix are nice, but I think some accurate measurements re the rear block holes locations might be more revealing if yours are different from others.

I do not have one so I have nothing to measure myself.

Unlike JPG, I'd like to see a couple more photo images of your V120, Alan.

I'd like to see the aluminum block attached to fence with the screw removed from the handle (like the second picture in post #12 this thread)..

I be curious how much that rear hole moves when pulling up and back on the grip.

Dusty's appears to not need any 'wiggle'.

Is it possible to mount the rear block upside down and/or backwards?

It appears as though the small aluminum block could be turned 180 degrees and that might produce a slight change in relationships. I can not tell for sure without taking the whole thing apart.
