Upgrading to a 520 is well worth it if you got some money left.
You should look into it sooner rather than later, prices are going up ....

Congratulations on the acquisition. $500 for a 510 in good condition is a great price.

Please share more as your journey continues.

Welcome Reddog!

I was talking to my wife just last night about building a rolling stand for my 520 table system. What I described to her fell a bit short of what you built, so I hope you don't mind that I just stole the pictures of your setup. Just a few minor adjustments and it should handle the 520 table system just fine :)

I'm impressed that your wife is willing to carry on such a conversation with you :)

I got an email that they were discounted and was really tempted. Is the upgrade worth the $$? The 510 fence seems pretty good but I will say getting the extra tables flat to the main table seems a little dicey with the tubes on a 510. Do the extrusions and multi point locks help with this?

Shortslvs - steal away, if you need more pics or have any questions let me know. I bought a couple of the vinyl coated hooks at one of the box stores to hang the fence and legs on the side. I tilt the main table to vertical and put it on the opposite side from the extension table. I'm trying to decide whether to bother hanging the two small tables from the face of the racks or not. I was going to originally because when the main tables are set on the rack they block access to the extra tables, but then I started thinking I wouldn't be using the extra tables without the main ones anyway. If you put something together I'd love to see it. Maybe I can steal a few improvements.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys. I'm ridiculously excited about the machine.

If that older gentleman ever gets around to selling his 10ER you might want to take a look. I just bought one and two things have struck me as I've cleaned this one up. First, they're built like a tank. The castings are massive and I'm sure the tubes are 1/4" thick steel. The Mark V is a woman - and the 10ER is a man of steel. The second thing I noticed is the lineage. The elements of the Mark V are there but they're not all refined.

Anyway, have fun with your new "lady" and make some sawdust and share what you make here.
The machine was neat. I told him if he ever wanted to reunite them I'd be happy to oblige. I'm in the Fredericksburg area, if you're ever out this way feel free to contact me.

If you should decide to 'upgrade' to the 520, be aware that you have the 'earlier' 510. The upgrade is slightly different(you get to drill holes!:D);)

Let me offer the same hospitality back. I'm north of Richmond (near the intersection of 95 and 295). And fwiw, I upgraded my 510 to a 520 when it went on sale last year and I'm pleased with the investment, so far.

I actually picked the machine up just a little west of you off of 295. I may take you up on the offer to see the difference on the 510 vs 520 fence and rails up close. Thanks Don

She mostly smiles and nods. Not sure she is actually listening, but has learned I am going to share it anyway... :)
