AZ is a strange weather state. (Quirky in other ways, too.)
It snowed and inch in Tucson at about 1800-2000 ft, and here on the mesa at about 6500, we got maybe a 1/4".
Anybody know what "graupel" is. According to one of the PHX TV weather girls, graupel is what fell in PHX. Not snow, but graupel.

I live in phoenix... although on the south side of town right by south mountain, so away from the graupel. I grew up in WI, where graupel did not exist. There, we called it SLEET.
Thank goodness it missed us at 1200 feet...if I ever get sick of snow and ice, I just open my non frost free freezer... hasn't happened yet!
