I'd be interested in what it costs to reproduce your version of the double tilt upgrade.

I'll let you know when I get a final cost after I get the knobs. I'll also let you know what I end up doing for a low cost alternative.
Along the same line....

Recently I added the double-tilt option, but ShopSmith didn't include the two holes (handy for holding the hex key) in the upgrade on the left end. It appears to be a cast part so wonder if it is safe to drill a hole in it without cracking it.
Any thoughts?
Thanks - great forum.

I used broken 10ER knobs with the threaded part replaced on my 'prototype'.

IIWM, I would search out a new handy place.

For years I used a speaker magnet on the belt cover.

I actually just finished my own home grown double tilt. I was ordering the double tilt from SS when they told me it wouldn't fit my Mark 5 500 without upgrading the unit to a 510 or 520. I looked how it was made and bought a used tilting end housing on ebay for $23.99 and a complete used 500 table for $24.99. Drilled one tapered pin out of each table post, went through that hole to drive out other pin in each post, rotated each post 180 degree's, redrilled hole straight through to accept new roll pin and now have a dedicated table for my under table routing. The housings, I simply slotted the holes to go over the pins and made a plate which I installed 2 pins, 1 at each end and a 3rd hole in between the 2 where I have a thumb srew(bolt) that threads into a hole drilled and tapped in each end housing. Works great!! I used it last night in both directions.
Thanks for the idea

That might work. For now I drilled a hole in home-made shelf for it. I did see one YouTube video regarding the double-tilt, and there would not be a place for the hex handle when the right side is raised.
Thanks again.
