I saw a shaper arbor and cutter set on Ebay. When I looked at the specifics on the SS site for the cutter p/n, I saw this disclaimer. I would like to use these parts on my old Mark 7, can I? Should I?
Sorry for the confusion.
And that cutter pn is?
BTW an old mark '7' must be a Mark VII. Yeah I know it is labeled both ways!:(
This is a puzzle to me. Offhand I cannot think of a shaper cutter incompatibility with those three models.

I am still not sure of 'why'. Is the length some how incompatible with the earlier trunions? If so why not '500's' also?
IIUI, this is the only one currently available.
While we are off on this tangent, anybody know how the new molder head & knives differ from the older ones?

pn 505934 and 505618.
It seems to me, if you can get the cutter spinning, it shouldn't care what machine it is on. I don't have the pn of the arbor, but that is the critical item. Is there a difference in the m7 shaft fit?

No. That is what is 'confusing'. All the models have the same quill and shaft dimensions.
Ahh So this is where you saw the exception statement.
It doesn't make much sense to me. The missing Mark 5/V is a mystery.
I question the accuracy of that statement.
Perhaps admin will elucidate us!!!

The shaper fence description has the same exceptions listed. Maybe the fence does not fit those model tables, and it's a liability issue with using the shaper arbor without an appropriate fence?

JPG, (and the rest of you) if I were looking for a replacement arbor for my ER, THIS IS THE EXACT MODEL I'd get! It will mount the regular sawblade, a stack dado blade, as well as shaper blades.
See my earlier post. I DO NOT know why SS thinks this won't work with the ER!
(Maybe, because of liability, NOTHING will work with the ER!) All those exposed belts, blades and stuff.

Oh joy joy joy joy joy joy. . .
Our sanity has been returned!!!!!
All(including the ER) the models have a shaper fence. Yes they do differ, but do exist.
It was the unusual model mix that had me babbling. The missing 500 was a mystery.
FWIW, the molder head will mount directly to the quill shaft with no arbor.
Thank You Admin!!!!!:):):):):):):):):):)
Now about the reason it is there on the molder head???????
