I searched the internet and asked a few forums if anyone knew of any papers or references to varying the frequency input to a 60 cycle motor. I never found any results of anyone actually testing for this frequency variation for a 60 cycle motor. I got a few responses that they did not believed it would work. I had noticed that the people operating the motor at 50 cycles had 10% less speed but no comment on the power. It was fun to check some of my crazy ideas at that time.

Another thing that 'happens' when running at a lower frequency(60 hz motor running on 50 hz) is it runs 'warmer'. Has to do (I think) with decreased opposing magnetic force that limits current in the run windings.(pushing my 'understanding' here).
I do not know if my dual voltage dual frequency Goldie motor is any different physically other than the extra wires etc, but it has a power rating reduced to 1 hp from 1 1/8 hp.
Hey reducing the frequency (on the surface) seems quite logical.
