There is a dirty joke the Amish around here like to tell. What does it take to make an Amish woman happy? Two Menonites.
I was not intentionally 'equating nor confusing' them. They are co-existing near by(I think). The Mennonites are there predominately but there are folks adhering to different beliefs regarding mechanization etc. Some drive horse drawn carriages, and some drive self propelled 'carriages'. So I may be in error regarding any Amish residents.
So which 'sect' wore hats like my avatar a while back(near locals have gone to more modern looking black straw hats of late).
Regardless they be very good farmers!!!!!!!!

What is a top link pin?
And if I understand you correctly you don't like the fact you have to insert the modified pin from the bottom, which requires a complete disassembly each time.
My question is why not cut the flange off the bottom so you can insert the pin from the top?
This seems so simple so I must be missing something.
I'm guessing that you have an answer to the top link pin if not you still have google to find out.
If you went to reference post I gave it shows the version that shopsmith sells. It inserts from the top and has a clip to locate it. I didn't want to attempt going that way.... way to hard for me. So my though was to use the bottom up approach, this of of course has the disadvantage of having to take the screw out and removing the "Y" section after use.
You are correct the bottom bit could be removed which would fix that problem but then you would be lacking a place to locate the shaft to a fixed location. Don't want that as an issue either so for now I'll be living with the dis-assembly issue.
BTW we have a chain of stores called Farm and Fleet that carries this sort of thing here in IL. In WI it was called Fleet and Farm???
