Exciting isn't it? So many decisions and not 100% sure what to do. You sir have found the best place to get any and all your questions answered. What I've have found is that no matter what machine you buy someone here has one just like it and can walk you thru it. My biggest suggestion is look on the members list and see if anyone is near you. The comfort of a fellow SS owner you can visit and rely on is priceless (thanks Fred Sheldon for being my blankie) not to mention you are a post away from asking any question and getting all the answers right here. Welcome to the forum and Welcome to the best decision you have made so far was finding the forum. Best people you could ask for and as someone else said oh what the heck they are like tanks it can be fixed and upgraded till your little heart and wallet desire ! It reminds me of a freshman in college, everyone wants to know your major and you are glad just to be here LOL. You have plenty of time to decide and no matter what you buy or pass on another will come along. My suggestion is jump in with both feet and enjoy the exciting ride. By the way it is addicting to say the least. Only one question you need to answer are you having FUN - then DO IT ! :)

Wow, it's like Christmas out there on Craigslist! In addition to that 520 you found, it turns out that there IS a screaming deal on a Pro Planer in your area: http://sacramento.craigslist.org/tls/4148961241.html

The lady doesn't know what she has -- she thinks that she's selling a Power Station with a worthless planer attached. The real question is what kind of "work" the planer needs. At that price, I'd snap it up, assuming that the feed motor works.

And welcome to the forum!

You are all so helpful. I can't thank you all enough. I tend to over think things to make sure I made the best decision I can. (it drives my wife nuts) :D can the stock motor be wired to go 220? A friend of mine had his Delta table saw done without changing the motor. It was just a couple wit=res inside

It can be, BUT it depends upon what brand of motor is inside..

If it a GE or AO smith motor you can easily rewire it to run both directions and while you are at it you can make it 220v. There is a link to the thread in the sticky thread in the maintenance section.

If it is an Emerson motor, you can BUT nobody here (yet) has found where to tap the start circuit. One side of the run and one side of the start circuit are "shared".

I'd jump on that 520 if it were me. The 520 table system alone (1 main table, 1 extension table, 2 floating tables, 2 telescoping leg, rip fence, carriage, etc) is worth $750

That last one is a 500. You mentioned you were going to use the table saw function. If that is true, I'd go for a 510 or 520 with the 520 being the best option.
