Did you order the PP upgrade for your existing headstock or an all new PP headstock? Either way I'm jealous!

Really Francis They(Magna American) did not have enough sense to only put one model number on the VII, it had to include a 7 also.

Nor did they have enough sense to actually obtain CSA before getting those tags(wit de 7) made up(hence the spot face on the right). Two wrongs definitely were not self correcting!

I agree SS Inc. goofed with the V. I think the 7 was appropriate and pays homage to its predecessor.



As for 'marketing', do realize Folkerith (son) has succeeded(for now) in salvaging the company(now called RLF Tools) from bankruptcy and has really scooped the industry with the teknatool marriage(powerpro). He also recognizes he has a unique product and is continuing doing what he knows works. Do realize what is best for SS is not what is best for us other than it's continued existence. Papa Folkerith did not raise any fools.

I ordered the DIY new motor with controller I'll reuse the case and have a miter that I can't use any more. If anyone has any use for it send me a pm. So ya 520 upgrade with pp will be nice

?????? You will have 1) an old quill, 2) an old main shaft, 3) a speed control with idler shaft, 4)a poly v belt, 5)a motor belt, 6)a motor, 7)a power switch left over. Miter gauge still works as before. Only the headstock casting and headstock lock are retained.

The 520 upgrade will leave 510 tubes and a 510 rip fence, or a 500 carriage, table(s) and ripfence. Still no miter gauge left over.

So, what did you mean?

The new power pro comes with a new motor, dual berring quill, new belt, new digital speed controll, new controll handles . Sorry I forgot their names. Basically the only part if the heads stock that will remain is the case

As far as the table, I have the Mark V so all new tables and floating tables, with new fence, upgraded saw guard,

You will not get a 'new' headstock lock. You will not get a new miter gauge. You might need a new miter bar(t slot washer etc.)

Whoops! Not quite sure what you mean by control handles, but when installing the PowerPro DIY parts, you will retain the quill lock handle and shaft, also the guts (spring, etc) and quill stop handle. In other words, the entire quill feed assembly will remain intact during the installation.

You will have to remove the headstock lock assembly and replace it after installing new right and left wedge locks. Please be prepared to remove the 1/8" rollpin from the headstock lock handle using a 1/8" punch. You will have to re-use that rollpin.

P.S. I was sent the wrong switch - a toggle switch - so I had to re-use my old locking switch.

I think he meant MOTOR not Miter I think I see a Shorty in your future now.
Just view the DVD twice, then take it into your shop with you on a laptop and play/pause it again as you thru the steps. Take your time, measure twice, drill once and you should have no problems.

Yes I did mean motor. Auto correct sometimes picks the wrong word. For example on another post I wanted to ask a question about the disk sander, but when I looked at it again, it put dick sander
