skou wrote:Jerry, that looks like it might be an E model, or has an E model ext table. An ER ext table would be made out of aluminum, and have a cast iron bracket. Yours is plywood, and has the aluminum bracket. You also have an E model rip fence.

If you replace the ext table, make sure to get an ER tailstock as well. The ER fence will fit right on your table, (Which looks to be an ER model.)

You should have ALL the manuals you need, on that thumb drive.

Sorry the wrong picture was sent by the previous owner here is the 10ER. The owner was selling both 10E and 10ER.

You won't like the answer !

All joking aside, how much did you get it for? Everything here is way overpriced used. I had to drive to your neck of the woods for my last one.
$125 for the 10ER and $50 for the Speed Changer. :D

Thank You so much. I was going to rely on Fred Sheldon to help me figure all this out (I still am) but now I will be able to make sure we do it correctly. Not to imply Fred doesn't know what he is doing - just the opposite he has rebuilt like 3 or 4 of these 10ER's already. I think the elf's visited his garage and helped him do all of that. It is a miracle how well these turn out when refurbished. Fred's look like showroom quality as do most of them I've seen here on the site. That is what drove me to get one of my own. Well actually my Prius drove me to get it !
You people have to be the nicest and most giving ever.
Ok no more buying for awhile 5 Shopsmiths in 4 months I can't fit anymore into the garage and still get the car in. Golden rule wife's car must be in every night or the shopsmith are outside instead. If Fred can do it I can do it, or at least I am trying to do it. Wife asked on the trip back today if and when I planned on making something with all of this equipment. I changed the subject immediately !

You know that you're addicted, don't you?:D

I wonder if there is a 12 step program for
us with more than 1 or 2 Shopsmiths?

Thanks for sharing your "deal" with us.

I ended up having to stop a five shopsmiths. One of mine lives in our place 400 miles away and my 10er is about 60% painted and all in pieces.... so I really have only 3 machines to work with here. The wife doesn't have a car so I don't have your problem there.

The big thing is enjoying what you are doing be it woodworking or collecting shopsmiths. Hobbies come in all sort of forms and take us down all sorts of paths.

Now get out there and have some fun.

Technically, it will work just fine on either side. You just may be more likely to scrape your knuckles when turning the dial as configured in the picture. The "correct" assembly makes that a little less likely.
