We are still buying wood for the wood furnace. I am allowed to cut wood now and feel good enough to cut wood, I just don't want to.

I actually usually enjoy cutting wood but not standing in 4 to 12 inches of snow. I did a lot of it when I was younger but I find myself to be a lot more prone to stumbling now and I try to avoid falling on chainsaws...

We pay $60 for a 4' x 6' face cord, delivered and stacked, and in most weather that will last about 10 days. The last 30 days we have used about 30% more than normal due to silly cold and windy weather. we were also running a little electric heat in some rooms and the light bill showed that nicely.
The normal wood heat only bill is quite reasonable considering that we heat over 4,000 sq.ft. Our one big culprit is our slant wall solar room. It is double glass but at night or cloudy days all of that glass radiates an awful lot of cold air. On sunny days it makes a lot of heat but this year sunny days have been limited.
I need to make some wood frames and put some decent clear plastic glazing on each of the windows in there. All but a couple of smaller triangle windows are 4' x just over 6'. There are 6 of those.
I would never build a room like that again. I like a lot of glass but there are better ways.
Looking at the 10 day forecast for here I hope to be cutting wood in maybe a week or so. I'll still likely keep buying some wood this year since I only have a limited amount of stuff that is dry enough to cut right now. I'll have a lot of tops to cut for next winter and may not need to buy any for next winter. I will also have sawmill slabs to cut for next year and they dry fast if under roof.
I guess the LP guys will just have to get along with out me this year.
I may need some LP for the motorhome. I really wanted to do some late fall camping last year but my dicky ticker had other plans. I might sneak in a little early spring camping if I get a chance. It doesn't take a lot to heat that old motorhome in mildish weather. Maybe we will just use a lot of blankets and fire up the engine and run the vehicle heater a short time in the mornings.
I also have one of these. I wouldn't want to sleep with it going but it works pretty nicely for other times. I originally bought it for and used it in my combine cab where the regular heater failed and was going to be a lot of work and expense to repair and I didn't have the time to give it during the middle of harvest. The little Mr. Heater served quite well.

I have not priced the little tanks lately to see if they have gone silly in price. I do have a few on hand.
