Ditto, ditto, and ditto.

I did the pinkie-feel thing on the first one (which had a jamb chuck screwed to it), and then felt again with an Allen key just in case a ridge was lurking at the very bottom.

The other three passed the pinkie test unobstructed, and for good measure I also slipped them plumb over the aux spindle on my Powerstation. (BTW, I do believe that was he first time the 10ER faceplates had ever contacted a spindle .. they were still wrapped in waxy paper.)

So you must be really, really special!

Sounds like a manufacturing defect. Send 'em back to Shopsmith for new ones.

Thank you one and all for the responses!

I was working on another project when I came upon the what turns out to be only something I have. The faceplates work fine on the machine which is all that counts in function. I'll leave them alone unless I find a reason to mount them backwards or what ever.

If you happen to check your faceplates and find ones that are like mine I'd still like to know.
