The bird houses are great!!

My brother spends his winters makeing some simple ones out of re-use wood. The birds love them. He sets some out front of the house and people stop by and buy. Sometimes the birds try to start a nest as they are just sitting out on a table or on the ground... that is sometimes a problem.

He has over 1000 made for this summer... now with gas prices up his sales depending on people vacationing he might have a two year supply. He normally sell like 500 to 600 so he would be happy if he even got that many sales. Now before you get to excited most of them go for $3 and a few as high $5 or $7. Some people come in and buy 30 of them at a time and take them back home or where ever to resell. One lady would stop in twice a year for a pile of them then take them home and paint pictures on them and get $75 or more $$ for them back in the city...

He built some for the Audubon people, feeders too. I think he got $8 and they sold them for $25 after burning their stamp into it. He tried to sell them local as just everyday birdhouses at $10 and they didn't sell. Funny how people were willing to pay that much for the stamp.

I have so many birdhouse stories... from starting my woodworking at about 6 years to making and selling them as my first capital adventure when I was about 11 to doing custom designs for people by the time I was 14... anyway I love seeing other peoples birdhouses and hope more of you build some.

Howdy,

Very nice looking birdhouses. You have given me the courage to try the same thing. Great job.

Happy Trails,
