Thanks reible

Now I understand. I have my owners manuals but some of the part numbers didn't seem to match this list.

I'll try again. I am attempting to learn all I can about the 'powerhead'. I'm trying to compile data from as many sources as I find.

I am probably missing some simple bit of information that is making this difficult for me to figure out. Maybe I should go to sleep and then look at this again in the morning, but maybe sleep won't help and I already know if you guys can help you will.

I have a used Jointer 555483
used Belt Sander 555483 (serial indicates it was made in 97)
The Belt Sander is on a Power Stand

I don't have a manual for any of this stuff and I am ready to order whatever manuals I need from Shopsmith, but when I look at the manuals list it gives prices, but I don't see where it tells me that this manual will go with my machine.

Are the differences so small that whatever manual Shopsmith is selling will cover these machines described above? Is there anything that actually shows the table setup so I can be sure I have a Belt Sander on the correct table/motor/pulley system. Maybe that is in the Belt Sander Manual?

Well anyway I am eager to buy what I need to align, maintain and use this equipment correctly. I just don't want to waist time and money accidentally buying the wrong manuals.

So is there anyone that can point at the painfully obvious thing I am overlooking that would help me to make sense of the list of manuals? hahaha

Thanks,

The manuals themselves tell you what model # they cover but I agree that this info isn't noted on the SS page. I have a couple of belt sander manuals with different model #s on them - one matches my belt sander and the other has a different model # and I'm not sure what the difference between the models is. My advice would be to call SS directly and give them your model #s for each SPT and ask them to sell you the correct manual for each. In some cases, model #s may have changed over the years but actual differences between the various models are so slight that any manual would work for you - the jointer comes to mind...I can't think of what really has changed with the jointer over the years other than the upgraded blade guard (?). Anyway, I'd call them directly and they should be able to get you manuals that will work for your given SPTs. BTW, there may be a separate manual for the power stand - I don't have one but since it can power multiple SPTs, I'm guessing it came with a manual of it's own.

The power stand manual is quite brief(8 page including front[drawing]/back[blank]), but does include pulley, belt, motor as well as stand assembly instructions.

For the belt sander:
Motor 1725 rpm
v-belt 53" x 1/2" "A"
4 step pulley(motor)
2 1/2" pulley(belt sander)

Thanks guys. I am going to give them a call this morning. I am going to grab any model/serials I can find off the stand and motor as well, so I have all the info in front of me.

Thanks for the help :)
