speed reducer on band saw
Moderator: admin
I have a question that may arise with others as well. This thread caught my attention since I have an occasion to use the band saw for plastic as well as aluminum on occasion. I have to admit I have always been under the impression the speed reducer was limited to the quill output shaft. That's what happens when you don't read the instruction manual completely. I bought it originally to turn a larger than normal bowl, put it back in the box and it has been on the shelf for about 28 years. Back to the question, I watched the video installing the reducer that seems pretty straight forward, however, try as I might, how in the world to remove the plastic sleeve so it can be reversed??? The guy in the video seems to use the allen wrench in some way to release it but on this one there is no way to use it. Can someone enlighten me??

Coupler has a set screw on it. Rotate the shaft till the set screw is visible/accessible in the slot at the bottom of the long casting. Pops right off. Complete details are included within the speed reducer instructions. The manual part number 845254 is $3.99.
