Hi Scot and welcome,
Nice score. Looks like it was built in Feb 1981 per
http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/faq/markv.htm. Did you get any of the accessory tools? A lot were purchased with at least the band saw and quite a number with the jointer. That will clean up real easily, probably just some light fine-grit sandpaper on the way tubes.
All: if you click on the original photos, you'll be taken to a Photobucket site that includes a couple shots that have the 500 tables as well as a few other photos.
Where are you now located? What branch were you in?
There are a lot of former/retired GIs here. I was in the USAF for a bit over 20 years, late 83-mid 04.

2012 Kawasaki ZX 14R in Blaze Green w/ flames. just bought 10-10-13.
Thanks ya all on the info. you guys are goood!!! I deduced that it was a 500 since I don't have the round handle to raise/lower the table. all I've got are levers.

Very cool ! I've been a Team Green guy since back when, so I thought Kawasaki instantly. I have an 05 ZRX1200R, but it's not green.............yet.
