It isn't the saw that's dangerous. It's the careless/unskilled operator.
Kinda like the guy that was using the table saw free hand with no fence or miter gage. When he lost part of his hand, he successfully sued the mfr.

That's the way it works with many things.

The one I just got has 1/4 of play in the carriage to arm bearing adjustment. He was using it this way.

When I was in high school shop class in the late seventies, we had to pass a written test on the operation and safety of each machine before we were allowed to touch it. Still a little common sense goes a long ways.

Why not keep it intact and have yourself a great saw? I have a RAS and I would not sell it for $100, so your logic seems odd to me.

To me a RAS is safer than an a table saw in many operations. In some operations unless you use it correctly and have all the safety equip installed it can be dangerous, but so can a tablesaw.

Mainly because I think I can get a nicer one in the future.

I have a Craftsman Radial Arm Saw I bought under similar circumstances.

I installed the new guard and handle that came with the recall kit but not the table.

For what I use it for It works great. I have no intention of getting rid of it unless a run across a good deal on a Dewalt.
