OK, for those of you that don't know, that Mk5 500 fence will also fit the Model 10 table. (This is where I come in.) It is a MUCH better fence, than the Model 10 version, but can need some adjustment.
YES the tape will work! Once the infeed and outfeed tables are parallel, the will stay parallel. If you achieve "parallel" with the tape, and that bothers you, try something harder. I'm thinking aluminum duct tape. (Not "duct tape," but REAL, aluminum duct tape. Aluminum foil, with sticky on one side, and a removable backing paper.)
As with masking tape, it will be a trial and error method. Build it up, until it is right, crank the mounting screws down, rinse and repeat as required.
Yes, you can make new fence pieces, as long as you know how to do woodwork. (Which is everyone here.) The Model 10 fence has aluminum fence boards, and on my (85) model, they were warped. I used some "pallet" oak, and made longer ones, still using the warped original ones. Only thing I used that shaper-molder fence for, was shavings for my ferret. (An 8 foot 2X4 cedar board was about twice as much as a tiny bag of cedar shavings. You do the math!) The homemade fence boards worked OK, but I wish I had had the 500 shaper-molder fence back then.

10 ER, stripped down.
Basic 10ER, Parts machine. Will be a semi-dedicated drill-press machine.
10 ER, a "survivor" of the trailer fire, in the back yard, needing restoration. Has a Mk5 headrest. Finally, stripped down.
Numerous parts, for Model 10 stuff. Except for lower saw guard, A and B adapters, I've got it.
Looking for one more, or some 9 inch extension table raisers.
