Now that the 'new' Mark 7 is 'out', the confusion becomes more prevelant.

What a mess. Thankfully, I've found the naming convention the only real difficulty with these machines and I really only want to add an ER to my shop.
I have neither the space, time or ability to bother with the original VII (7) unless one that's cheap and near complete drops into my lap.

More like 10E, 10ER, Mark 5 Greenie Gilmer, Mark 2, Mark 5 Goldie Gilmer, Mark 5 Goldie Poly-v, Mark VII(ignore the '7' plate), Mark 5 smooth gray, Mark 5 wrinkle gray, Mark V(500/505/510), Mark V 520, Mark 7 in that order.

Mixed in to that are the three different headstock castings. "A" was the early greenies, then the "B" went from later greenies to mid 90 when the "C" was born.

I think the Mark 1 was prior to the Mark V. Fear not, thee shall never cast thine eyes upon one.

One could do that by simply discarding the legs and replacing the Base(504145) and Base Arm(504143) with a Headrest (514530). Well, it wouldn't really be a Mark I. To get more authentic, the tubes would need to be shortened.

What would you have when you got done?

It would be a lot like my Shorty except that I can tilt my Shorty.

But it would be a lot closer to a version that I have been thinking about for a long time. I have been contemplating taking the legs off of my goto machine and mounting them on a shorten 10E like platform. I would like to lower the table saw so that it is not at arm pit height. I have given up on the notion that I would eventually grow into this table saw.

So why have I not yet done this? Because I have not convinced myself that I can live with the SPT also being lower.

Shorter tubes?????

The Mark 1 bears a striking similarity to the the Mark 2 design goals.
