Well the first technique are the ABC's. ANCHOR on the tool rest, ride the Bevel, CUT.

I dont understand the "dial" numbering. No #s on it and I think it is broke anyway after examining today and JPGs warning on another thread.

Not sure why you think it broke. It looks good to me unless I'm missing something. I need to go out and look at mine to be sure. I believe the threads only engage on the one side. As long as the center part of the pully system slides back and forth on the shaft and the ear is not broken off you should be good to go. I'll double check tonight.

Pulley slides smoothly, still trying to figure out what the ears are!!

The ears are what the bolts go through with the nuts on the other end. I think you are good to go, just slip the whole thing on to the tubes and attach it to the unit with a bolt. There is a lot of adjustments that can be made to the shives on the pulleys depending on the width of the belts. You just don't want the bottom of the belts to bottom out on the pulley shaft so you need to adjust the gap between the sides of the pulleys properly.

Set the new one, in the garage, as a drill press last night, ran it for about 15 minutes on low, quite, cool, smooth. Studied what to so with all that horizontal length when in the vertical position. May make some type of storage on that platform for SS stuff, or install an other tool there. Just would make it inconvenient for horizontal boring. I dont want to be raising and lower an ER 10 much though!!! But if I set up the greenie for dedicated sanding, belt and disc, which is my plan, it would be in the horizontal position, and easy to take off disc, add chuck, and be in position for H. boring. Choices!!!! Nice to have many options!!

Since I couldn't make up my mind, I acquired 3 10 ER's, one is a dedicated drill press/drum sander on a shorty base, the second one is a lathe/drum sander, jig saw, on a full size base, the third is in storage as a backup. My 520 is my base for two bandsaws, one on each end, as well as my disk sander/table saw/etc. I also have a 500 shorty which is a dedicated OPR. All fit in 1/2 of my 2 car garage/shop when not in use. My wife's car resides in the other half. Of course the car goes out when shop is in use, but I have standing orders that the car cover is installed anytime it's outside.

Ah, life is so simple when single!!! But been there, and yes, my car sat out, funny about the rules of togetherness!LOL Bliss???
