Locate a 'second' tie bar so it can be secured to the headrest as normal.

I have a 2nd one but on the other ER, still a bit confused to where you would add it, I think I know, closer in but why for a DP? Then that means to buy another one!!! Freaken addiction!!! And not wanting to see them at the scrap yard!!!!

Bob, you can call me Steve, if you want.

JPG, I agree, partially. Find a second tiebar, and put it at the headrest, but leave the setscrews out. 2 reasons. The tiebar at the left end, (or the top end) will keep the way tubes from splaying out. The second one at the headrest, makes a better mount for the Model 10 in the horizontal position, and even with the setscrews out, will still lock the left end in place. With the setscrews out, they won't mar up the way tubes, and will be adjustable when the headstock or carriage needs to be moved.

However, the only time I'd worry about locking down the tiebar, is if I was going to be USING the Model 10 in the HZ position. Resting it there wouldn't bother me, since the weight is going from the way tubes to the headrest any way. That bolt just holds things stable. The headrest bolt is just a knurled-head, finger tightened bolt, not the pony-tail clamp, like the Mark series.

Bob, look here.

If I'm not mistaken, Tom got all of Bill Mayo's Model 10 stuff.

I got a tiebar and a tailstock from him, and the price was VERY reasonable.

Steve, thanks, Lunch??? I eat brunch, around 11 a snacky around 5 and then cook a GREAT dinner around 7 depending on the time of year!!
I also have an electric water heater on an austerity program, 40 gallons, I turn it on for 12 minutes B4 shower time, all the hot water I need. Cut my Electric bill by 20% From having it on all the time!!!
Now to the head rest, if i can find separate one for a nickle, without an another ER, God forbid me!!! Spare parts?? No way like them as a whole!!
