Couldn't you turn the offset legs so that they positions the BS closer to the quill?

Yes, this is do-able, but then they would be inset rather than offset;)

Hi, Forrest! Although I've never used the bandsaw on the quill side, I have often used the the Strip Sander running off the quill. I leave the table on the carriage and put it in vertical position, remove the insert and run the quill through that hole. This saves lifting the table off and I don't have to set it against a wall.

Using the quill to run an SPT is the reason I wanted the new all position quill handle. The new handle will prevent problems of the handle hitting the table.

The reason for the offset on the bandsaw was so you could tilt to the vertical drilling position without it hitting the bandsaw table. However I have read here on the forum somewhere that if you tilt the bandsaw table to the max it will just clear. I may have to look into that.

I understand that drl. I just thought it would be easy to loosen the set screws and turn the posts 180 to accommodate the oporation, and then return them to normal when you were finished.

Also, I did see a Youtube vid where someone used one of the new 3D printers to create a SS coupler. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-FRnJkr3hk

If you have access to one or know someone who does, maybe an extended coupler could be "printed".

Sure that could be done but I don't know if it would be worth the effort. Rotating the offsets mean getting shafts to line up again. Not something I care to do all that often.

If the posts are bottomed out in the bandsaw, and stop collars are used, all that needs to be realigned is the front to rear. With loose setscrews in the bandsaw and the SPT clamp loose, it should be pretty easy by just pushing it in/out.
