The newer guards will not work with the Greenie.

The Greenie can handle a dado sans guard.

Well, yes! If you dont have or can't get the guards, use it for operations that don't need one. Like dados. I find it a pain to change the saw out for a dado or box joint blade. I leave mine on one of the Shopsmiths to save time. I almost always use the same dado width...
