I had a server farm of 7 different servers when I was working. It was always a circus! :D

Glad "we" are back!

Yeah, I noted the shutdown but remembered the last time I thought the site had gone the way of the dodo —*I moaned, certain that I would have to find some other, but not quite as good, venue to help me learn more about the machine and woodworking in general.

Then it came back the next day.

So, this time, I just sat it out and checked back in until I saw a thread like this one come along. The site had stayed up long enough to accrue several comments of consternation and relief. A sure sign that all was well.

Glad to see y’all.

Thjis is Mr. Dummie posting. My Shopsmith sites were off then on then off. Although I could get other sites on the internet, I somehow lost my presence of mind and refreshed my computer. What an entirely stupid thing to do.

Now I have to re-set lots of stuff to get it back to where it was. The worst thing is - I have lost my internet security.

So now I will try to do the best thing and stay off the internet until I can get it back. Bye for a while!

It has been up and running for awhile now but I just experienced a short period of inaccessibility. I use lumberjocks as the test site when I experience website outages.

As a test. I ping yahoo.com, then shopsmith.net.

How does one "ping" a website?

And what are the expected results?

You do it at a command prompt. Just type in "ping shopsmith.net". The desired result is a "reply".

Thanks
I gave it a try and got a reply.
Not sure I know what that means, I'm guessing that proves the site is avail?
