The easy answer is NO!
It doesn't depend on the insert. Especially a zero insert. Any saw blade will widen the slot or give it a new slope.

In fact - although not recommended - a carbide blade will saw a new slot in any aluminum insert.

You mean you don't have an elongated slot sawn through the dado insert?
Such a slot would be handy if you want to change from a dado blade to a 10" saw blade without changing inserts.

Gotta say, my inserts look much more worn than the one you showed. But they still work as intended.

My inserts would work as intended too but I don't use these much. Reasons: I make my own inserts and I have three sets of the Shopsmith inserts (one for the original Mark V, one for the Shorty and one for the Crafters Station). Some of the Crafters Station inserts are a bit different though.

Why would anyone even 'think' of using a molder insert for sawing?

Gotta admit - done it several times. Didn't need much saw blade lift to cut a 3/4" board.

The drum sander/shaper insert insert would qualify in that case also. He was talking table saw mode.
